I am the Director of International Relations at the Sports University of Budapest (UPE/TE), coordinating a complex internationalizaion process at the Sports University of Budapest. I have taught American and Canadian culture studies, including terms in the US, too. Among numerous items, I published Critical Perspectives on English-Canadian Literature (1996) and Going Indian: Cultural Appropriation in Recent North American Literature (2012), contributed to The Routledge Companion to Native American Literature (2016) and currently I am writing a book on mixed heritage Southwestern literature for Lexington Books. I am a language examiner, interpreter and an active Fulbright alumna. I have organized several international events and my passion is to foster institutional development. I am a trainer, interpreter and business coach, too.
As a team leader and member of the HE institutional management, I have learned the challenges and good practices in managing a group of individuals of diverse backgrounds, motivations and skills. I have initiated and elaborated two internationalization strategies for two HEIs, and work on making my university implement a new policy, approaches and structural set up that caters to quality education and service for both domestic and international students. Over the years, I had to hire and select staff members and also to develop ways how to understand, motivate, evaluate, delegate train and retrain them, how to avoid burn out. At both IR directorates, we turned the traditionally highly hierarchic teams into more efficient and flexible collaborative and project or task-oriented ones, changing the overall dynamics of the area (internationalization).
I am experienced in representing and promoting my academic and corporate employers in Hungarian and English, in various cultures and professional circles as well as in the media and other platforms. I have developed specific international and intercultural training programs to tackle various needs. A life-time dedication ties me to the development of transatlantic relations and intercultural value exchange, partly due to my studies and professional path, and partly to the extensive network of great friends, colleagues and supporters on both sides of the Atlantic. I am the proud mother of two wonderful adult kids, Eszter and Péter.
Values I cherish
